The Rhythm of Fighters Released for iOS and Android

Today SNK Playmore released The Rhythm of Fighters for both iOS and Android. If there was a chart that tracked my most unexpected gaming announcements, a rhythm game based on the King of Fighters fighting game franchise would rank right up at the top. However, SNK Playmore has announced just that with The Rhythm of Fighters. There isn’t a whole lot of information over at the official website, but they do say it’s “A game packed with legendary SNK tracks!” and call it “A ground breaking ‘Fighting X Music’ game for everyone to enjoy!”

Further teasers suggest that players will complete special moves and combos by completing rhythm-based actions. Specifically, you’ll get five free track packs to hit your finger to: King of Fighters Selection Volume 2, the Real Bout pack, the Recommend pack, and the custom mix Rhythm of Fighters pack. Considering that those add-ons would cost about $12 in total, it’s not a bad deal. But there is something of a catch: in order for the game to recognize that you’ve already paid for it, you need to have save data on your device, which probably means you need to have not only purchased it but have it installed before the update. So if you’ve uninstalled it since June, or you want to play it on a different device, you’re out of luck. You might be able to retrieve your data from Google Play Games if you logged in before the change. The game is now available for $.99 on both iOS and Android devices.
