Metronomicon to mix rhythm, RPGs for 2016

metroKasedo Games and Puuba announced a new rhythm-RPG hybrid, Metronomicon, will be made available on PC and Mac later this year.

While the early footage may remind players of Beyond the Echo, it seems the developer is putting its own unique touch on the formula. The release will see a total of eight characters that can join a party to support the player in “rhythmic combat arts.”

In Metronomicon, players will be able to switch between four hero tracks to select and activate the characters’ abilities and spells. The player’s accuracy then determines how effective the move is. All the while, characters can be improved over time with experience and equipment.

The developer is already touting a fine catch of artists who will lend their talents to the game, including an exclusive track from Jimmy Urine of Mindless Self Indulgence and Shiny Toy Guns is slated to provide an unreleased track. The game will also feature tracks from YACHT, Perturbator, J-Punch and DJ CUTMAN, along with a promise of more to come.

Outside of the main quest, the game will feature a freeplay mode, ranked side quests and an arena mode.

The title will make its first public appearance at PAX East 2016, scheduled for April 22-24 in Boston.
