With roughly a week left (or more?) of the maimai Pink Plus location test at Dave & Buster’s Irvine, the test has been going “super good” according to our source at SEGA, with more traffic during the nights and weekends (of course). Our source states that maimai Pink Plus will be headed to select Dave & Buster’s locations depending on the overall amount of traffic the game gets and will be equipped with full AIME support by Sega.
It’s still unsure if the test cabinets will stay permanently at the Irvine location or travel to another store and at the time of this post – the cabinets are still available at D&B Irvine. Our source also states that Chunithm may see the same type of localized location test later next year.
We’ll keep our ears out and bring you anymore info as it rolls in! Having maimai even playable in this form as a location test has been a dream of many. Sega has spent a lot of time and close eye checking out rhythm gaming and it’s impact over the past few years and have been very pleased with what they see. With both maimai and Chunithm being insanely popular in Asia, North America could welcome them both really well I feel.
