Ah, the song of local availability. It's like California and Avocados. Avocados are hardly grown anywhere outside of California, so they're cheaper there (maybe not by much, but there's still a difference!) Some people (my old neighbors included) actually have Avocado trees in their backyards. My neighbors were cool enough to let us have some when they were starting to blacken, that way we'd be able to let them mature in our house until they were just right. In exchange, we'd give them some plates of food whenever we barbaqued, other neighborly stuff, etc. Oh, and now and then I had some quality time to hang out with the neighbor's daughter...
Sadly, didn't go that far.
