Random programs that do nothing for you, low connection speeds, RAM and processor hog, high prices. Though I hear their anti-virus program is pretty good.

The thing about AIM is that it has advertisements that make noises and irritating windows if you accidentally roll your mouse over them. I know you sign onto MSN as well, and that program also uses a shit ton of RAM like AIM does. If you use Gaim or Trillian you will not only have no ads, but you can sign into all your IM accounts at once, use less resources, use less space in your taskbar and system tray, and have more features available for use.

I've converted other people to Gaim. It's simpler than Trillian in appearance, though I've never had the chance to use Trillian before. I'll just stick with Gaim, though. Finally, there is Miranda IM, but it doesn't let you use more than one account per service.
