What I did to test the loudness was I placed both my DA and Ransai in the same spot on the same surface and banged away at them. Tested on both a solid wood surface like a table and on a keyboard stand.
Wish I could get a video so here's a description.
The DA made a more definite harder sound like two wood planks banging against each other. The DA is SOLID. The controller's walls are very thick and were glued together perpendicularly. The DA was loud no matter which surface I played on.
The Ransai has a softer sound and I can actually hear the microswtiches clicking. Didn't sound like it was made of solid plywood either even though it actually is made that way. The walls are miter cut, too at 45 degree angels. I think they're called rabbit-joints? Not sure but I was told those reduce noise. It was less noisy on the keyboard stand.
I've played on other Ransais and DAs and each sound the same.
I'm considering getting (yet another) controller. I'm concerned with noise-levels due to where I live and the late night hours I'd rather play during.
