Better than paying 599 US DOLLARS and having to buy more controllers for multiplayer and then obviously the £50 or something games themselves.
One Wii console for £180, one game and one Wiimote and Nunchuk attachment is bound to be cheaper than $599, even if Nintendo are being a bit silly with the pricing of the controllers and addons. Also remember we aren't having to buy memory cards (at least not straight away) so Nintendo need to make money somewhere.
