For quick energy, nothing more than an energy drink

That's for when you need it on the spot.
For long-term energy, I recommend anything with lots of long-lasting glucids, which is basically pasta, potatoes or other heavy sugar foods. Don't take candy or overraging sweets, I'm not saying that at all since you'll have a down after.
If you're an active guy, do NOT follow the fucking carb plans to "reduce your carbs", because think of it, carb = energy, damnit! Eat stuff that are high in carbs if you know that you're real active, that'll make your body much more energized.
You're just like me, I could eat so much and gain so little since I'm very active [DDR/ITG addict] and I used to weightlift and did some sparring with friends like wrestling to kid around.
