Agreed on Desert Punk. Even the dub is awesome. I loved that woman in the first episode..."Why did I marry such a tool?" Great line and it comes out of nowhere.
Is the Beck anime out here? I had some concerns when I heard it was picked up. There are a lot of cultural jokes, particularly plays off of the way Japanese people speak English, and it seemed to me that it would be hard to translate those kinds of things. (For example, the first episode, when the Japanese girl says in broken English "Who the f* are you?" Terrific line in the original because of the way it was delivered.) If the anime is out and anyone has it...did they do a good job dubbing? |
