Default Cobalt Flux Review Full

~Cobalt Flux Review~

Intro: My friend purchased a Cobalt Flux after all the good things people have said about them. What really sold him over was the video of a guy running his Cobalt Flux over 6 times. It took about 3 weeks to get here and was in perfect shape.

Once the mat was out of the box all the arrows were bowed up. In the instruction manual it says to loosen all the screws untill there just touching the lexan arrows.

Design: The mat look pretty good out of the box. Though the green top corner arrows are unatractive. There is almost no metal visible on the pad so that was disapointing. The design for the arrows looks similar to what you would find at an arcade. Though all the decals are, are just paper under the clear lexan. After playing awile those decals seem to shift and get destroyed. You also have to be carful playing on carpet, the wooden base will crack leaving the CF almost umplayable.

Sensitivity: The sensitivity is fairly good. It is nice to be able to touch an arrow with your fingers and register. After playing it awile the sensitivity didn't seem much better then a regular foam mat. We complained about this problem and we were sent a new control box. After this the pad did not lag like before. The sensitivity is decent but for its 300 dollar price tag, it should have been better.

Feel: This mat feels nothing like an arcade. If you like the feel of the arcade do not buy a Flux. It is completly flat and I find it hard to find were the arrows are under my feet. Also, when hiting the arrows the lexan flexes making a thumping sound. Like the sound when you shake a sheet of thinner plastic. The arrows end up having some spring to them which is good. The overall feel was decent but could be improved.

Support: They support there product well. 6 month warrenty and most parts on the mat are replacable. The forum has many good tips on how to improve on the mat and help clean it. The company checks the mat 3 times before leaving the factory so you know it will be good when it comes to your door though with all the quality control it sometimes takes 2 months to arrive at your door.

Overview:
Design: 6/10
Sensitivity: 6/10
Feel: 6/10
Support: 10/10

Overall I think the Cobalt Flux is overrated but still makes a good pad at home. The only real selling point would be when you get it, it will work unless damaged in shipping. I would say If you really want a metal mat and can afford a Cobalt Flux add some extra money in or save yourself some money by getting a Nexen or a Blueshark.

Overall Rating: 7/10
