Default Freestyle Revival?

Hey guys, just thought I'd pop in and run something by all of you guys to see what you think.

Freestyle is dead. There's no doubt about that. And its been dead for a long, long time. But I want to bring it back, if only for a little while.

I recently got an idea to run a massive freestyle tournament (possibly the biggest one ever done in North America?), that would incorporate both ITG and DDR. Before you dismiss this as far-fetched, I should let you know that I'm planning on having the top prize be at least $500.00CAD, and am willing to bump it up to $1000.00CAD if there's enough interest. I just want to see some damn good freestyling.

The basic idea was this:

Division One would be the R21/Routine Division. The R21 part basically means any song with any steps. Little details like restrictions could be worked out once I decide that running this thing would be worth it. This division would also include all routined (aka, "non-improv) entries. It would more or less be the "centerpiece" of the tournament, as it allows for the highest level of variety and freestyle ability. The venue that I'm currently looking at has both a DDR Extreme and an ITG2 machine no more than 10 meters away from eachother, so entries could be on either machine.

Division Two would be the DDR Classic Division. It's improvisation done purely on the DDR cabinet. Kind of like a throwback to the good ol' days. This would be the minor tournament, and the prizes would most likely be considerably lesser.

And if we want to extend the event over two days (probably Saturday/Sunday), I could run a technical/PA/FA tournament on one of the days. This would be an option if there were many high-profile players planning on attending.

Anyway, tell me what you think. If this thing gets off the ground, I'll be giving everyone more than a sufficient amount of time to put together a routine or R21 simfile. At least 3 or 4 months. I'll also need the time to save up the money for prize funds. I don't exactly have $2000 lying around in my bank account. If you have any questions, leave 'em here.
