Yeah, sometimes that happened to me too. But I already did give two solutions after this one. I first said that leaving the top open permanently makes it work even better (song no longer cuts out in the middle), but there's the obvious "naked disk" penalty. Also, I didn't find this solution to be foolproof since there was a point in time when this didn't work well either. For me, this was the time when neither the "opening/closing lid" nor "leave lid open" trick worked for me at all. That was when I finally reminded myself of that spring that stuck out underneath the fliptop hinge.
In a nutshell, all I did was trim that metal part of the spring with a strong wire cutter. Every song worked perfectly for me after that. For more info, just check
post #22 in this thread. I suppose that other things like pieces of plastic may hinder the spinning of the disk as well, which can be solved with what EvangelionUnit03 did in
post #27.
EDIT: And Dreamcube, I'm also really curious as to what you did differently to make yours work. One moment, you seemed like you were out of hope, the next, some miracle happened (?).
