I really don't mind them. To me, they seem like a lazy attempt to put something on the screen besides backgrounds - but other than that, I largely ignore them.

I could do without them when playing a fast song though. Seriously, everyone here has to think that the characters look rather stupid when you're playing a fast song like FAXX or Paranoia -Respect-. It looks like they're being attacked by bees or something. :P
