You do not need a guitar to play this game. It lets you map controller buttons to each function. If you really want to use a keyboard you could use a program that maps joystick buttons to keyboard keys.

Also the config.dat file can be opened in notepad and setting can be adjusted to make the game play smoother. The default rez in the config was 1024x768, so changing rez should help a lot. I will post the settings I'm using when I can get a usable framerate.

I too would love to see someone post a link to the "blank stage".
