There's an easy way to make sure you're getting the right cable too. If you look at both ends of your standard Ethernet cable, you'll see that the colors are in the exact same order. Thus the term straight or straight-through. Likewise, a crossover will not be exactly the same. The blue and brown pairs will be in the same spots, but the orange and green will be different. Just make sure you're not getting something that's got all 8 wires in reverse order...that's a rollover, and won't help you in any way for this situation. |
