If by “branch out” you mean he does a genre of music other Bemani artists have done and repeats that same genre again in the next IIDX game, then yes. I still like him, though.
I dunno why you hate on Starmine so much. It's better than Be Quiet (though you probably love that awful song and think it's one of RED's best).
