Sounds to me like a technical limitation on any character stripping that might be within the code that checks your requested name change. This code prevents people from putting <size=7>MY NAME IS RALPH</size> as their username, and resulting in
MY NAME IS RALPH on the forums.
Wait until Bowlmanifest is over, and I bet Keith will take a look into it.
