Did the diet thing a couple times. I did the NutriSystem stuff-- they send you a month's worth of food in a box-- a few years back and lost about 60lb, though I got really sick of the same food over and over and over again.
Weight watchers online is pretty good, but you can do most of it by yourself. Write down what you eat, stick to (mostly) healthy stuff, and keep track of calories. Cut out 500 cal per day, and you'll lose a pound per week. Not too hard, once you swap some unhealthy stuff for better things, like having apples and peanut butter for a snack instead of a candy bar
