I think it's a matter of audience. I mean, while I don't think that an anime convention is a perfect place for a Bemani concert (seeing how there are certainly Bemani fans who have no interest in attention an
anime convention), I can't really think of a more appropriate venue aside from something Bemani-specific like Bemanifest. A standalone concert wouldn't really work because the attendance numbers probably wouldn't be as high (how many people would go across the country for a two-hour concert?), so you pretty much have to tie it into a larger event. Lacking any other large public gatherings of gamers, anime conventions are one of the only ways to go.
In short, I'd go to an anime convention solely for the concert if I needed to, but ACen is certainly too far to travel. Aren't there any big anime conventions in Cali?
