I recall it also having something to do with the BOSE speakers he has on each sider of the monitor. If you remove them, there's no discoloration unless it's permanent at this point. You can actually move them away from the screen and take away a few inches of discoloration, but it doesn't really mess up the game play as one would think. Whites stay White, the Blues start off as red until about 4 inches down the screen.
Not that big of a deal, really. I don't notice it anymore at this point.
