Okay, I think I figured out the problem... the disc brake is engaged whenever the lid is open. When I push it back, however, while I've got the paper in, the disc will spin up.
What's causing the disc brake to stay engaged? It doesn't appear to be a mechanical function, because when I close the lid or push the disc brake back, the disc spins fine and loads the game fine.
What's going on? Do I need to tape back the brake?
EDIT: I solved the problem. I'm a freaking idiot, and just got what you said above about it being mechanical. The disc won't spin while the tray is open because... well, the tray is open. XD
Is that right?
