BM IIDX GOLD released here in Asia around August-September last year (that's around 4-5 months after the Japan release I think). Of course, JP got Troopers around December or so that same year.
Personally, I see no problem with our longer waiting time. I mean, if we launched Troopers at the same time as Japan (while receiveing GOLD just only 3-4 months ago), then the arcade operators and establishment owners would be PISSED. Why not buy JP version of Troopers as an add-on then? Well yes, but............you can't connect it to the network yet (heck GOLD is still on-line for our version). Also, remember that Japanese versions of any KONAMI game that are in Asia (ex-Japan) CANNOT be connected to the network as your center may risk being banned from the network.
So yeah, it kinda sucks that we are not in the same launch frame as with Japan for BM IIDX (Supernova 2 and V4 launch with Asian and Japanese versions at the same time and same initial version builds) but that's how it is. On the other hand though, it may not be so bad after all. I mean, when GOLD launched outside Japan, it was already BEAT FREE (even when the unit was not connected yet to the server).
This pic of the machine in Bugis Junction (when it was still being set-up months ago) says BEAT FREE right at the start.
Same thing will happen when we get our version of DJT (BEAT FREE at the start) so I guess this is one advantage of having at late launch. It also helps for countries here in the region that aren't on the network (such as us in the Philippines) so that the get DJT units that already have Shades of Grey, State of the Art and the beat#3 expert course unlocked (without requiring a network connection or resorting to hacking/tampering and whatnot).
Sure, we lose out on waiting time but I predict that in time, we will synch back with the JP release time frame for BM IIDX.
That's all I can say about it.

Off-topic but......................am I hearing this right? Pop n music 16 is now officially available in Asia (outside Japan)???
