As a former resident of Santa Cruz for 20 years, I can tell you this; if you haven't made a plan by 9 o clock or so with your friends, and you're not into Denny's, movie theatres, or old enough to drink, you'll probably be bored as hell. The Boardwalk has gone down in recent times, but I'd go just to for kicks if I were you. Since UCSC is relatively close to downtown (just hop on one bus and you're there,) you'll probably find some neat things on Pacific Ave, including the transit center which can take you to San Jose and then SVGL
