Default Double drums: Tips on how to play like a real Taiko Drum Master

I'm very sure you all have seen many videos in Youtube or any other streaming sites of people attempting to do double drum stunts on Taiko in the arcades. The Japanese trend for Taiko is now shifting from FC-ing Kita Saitama2000 in Oni to playing double drums for Level 10 Oni songs. What do I mean by double drums? It means ONE player playing TWO drums in TWO player mode.

Here are some examples of double drum stunt videos

YouTube - (Double drum stunt play)???? - Kurofune Raikou

Yeah, that's me. I'm not that good yet. But it's still an FC!

YouTube - ??????????????????????2000?

Double drums on Koibumi2000 Oni. Yes... KOIBUMI2000 ONI!

YouTube - ??????????????????????????

Double drum FULL COMBO for Densetsu no Matsuri. Yes, FULL COMBO for both drums

YouTube - ???????The biceps brachii is trained by "Taiko Drum Master"

Awesome consecutive passes for Kechadon2000, The Carnivorous Carnival, Taberuna2000 and Yokuderu2000.

Yeah, I'm sure you get my point...

Okay, here are some tips to play double drums like a Taiko Drum Master!

1) First and foremost, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE GOOD PLAYING ALL, IF NOT MOST SONGS IN ONI BEFORE YOU TRY THIS STUNT!

2) Always start off with Muzukashii until you're confident to play Oni. Kurofune Raikou in Muzukashii is good start. Also, please beware that some songs have different notes for each player in 2 player mode. It will confuse you; unless you memorize the notes for each player.

3) YOU MUST MAKE YOUR OWN BACHI IF YOU WANT TO PLAY DOUBLE DRUMS! Yes, this is very important. The arcade's bachi are very heavy and it will make you tired easily. Ensure that your bachi is light and long enough to hit both sides of the drums when do a CROSS STUNT.

a) What is a cross stunt? That's when your right hand hits the left drum and your left hand hits the right drum. It's a very cool stunt and it's rather mesmerizing when other people see it. The videos above all have this stunt. DO NOT DO THIS STUNT UNLESS YOU ARE SURE YOU CAN HIT THE NEXT NOTE! Also, this stunt will tire you more as you are using more energy.

4) The arcade's Taiko drum sensors are sensitive. So, you don't need to hit so hard - as it will waste your energy. However, you DO need to hit the sides of the drum HARDER as they are less sensitive; which can be hard if a succession of DDKKDDKKDDKK come. If your hands feel tired during a song, try to use your shoulder's strength to hit.

5) I recommend you to warm up by playing single drums before playing double drums. For me, I play best after 10-20 minutes of playing single drums. It varies for each individual.

6) Try to play songs with slower BPMs first (like Super Mario, Fuun! Bachi Osensei) before you advance to songs with faster BPMs.

Apart from those tips earlier, here are some recommended songs for each level of double drummer.

Beginner
Kurofune Raikou (Muzukashii/Hard) - Taiko 10/11
Super Mario Bros (Muzukashii/Hard) - Taiko 8/9/10/11
Mojipittan Medley (Muzukashii) - Taiko 8/9 <- beware of slight note changes!
Almost any level 3-5 Muzukashii song. But beware of songs like Natsu Matsuri as they have note changes in 2P.

Intermediate (advance to Oni level!)
Love so sweet (6 stars) - Taiko 10/11
Together (4 stars) - Taiko 10/11
Real voice (5 stars) - Taiko 9
Saitama2000 (7 stars - Muzukashii) - Taiko 7/8/9/10/11 <- only attempt after you feel comfortable handling songs with fast BPMs! I tried this song and just barely passed. T____T
Almost any level 1-5 Oni songs, depending on speed.

Advanced - all Oni (the road to becoming a true Taiko Drum Master)
Densetsu no Matsuri (7 stars) - Taiko 10
Fuuun! Bachi Osensei (7 stars) - Taiko 7/8/9/10/11
Super Mario Bros. (8 stars) -Taiko 8/9/10
Soulcalibur II (7 stars) - Taiko 7/8/9/10/11 <- beware of note changes
Almost any 6-8 Oni songs, depending on speed.

Expert (almost there!)
Gekkabijin (9 stars) - Taiko 9/10 <- beware of note changes if you hit the yellow notes differently!
Hyakkaryouran (9 stars) - Taiko 11/12 <- beware of note changes if you hit the yellow notes differently!
Kurofune Raikou (9 stars) - Taiko 10/11 <- beware of note changes if you hit the yellow notes differently!
Almost any level 8-9 songs, it really depends!

Taiko no Dai Tatsujin (Taiko Drum Grand Master!)
Saitama2000 (9 stars) - Taiko 6/7/8/9/10/11 <- beware of note changes if any of your hands fail you
Kechadon2000 (10 stars) - Taiko 7/8/9/10/11 <- beware of note changes if you hit the yellow notes differently!
Koibumi2000 (10 stars) - Taiko 7/8/9/10/11 <- make sure you can handle fast BPMs before you attempt!
The Carnivorous Carnival (10 stars) - Taiko 10
Numujika ac.10 - Taiko 10 <- slow, but it has a lot of streams.
Taberuna2000 - Taiko 8/9/10/11
KITA SAITAMA2000 - Taiko 9/10/11 <- the goal for every double drummer is to FC this, DOUBLE DRUMS!
ALL Taiko songs!

That's all from me for now! I hope you enjoy double drumming as much as I do!

Thank you for reading!
