My friend bought a generic converter, and it works just fine for him. He can't get it to work with 4th/3rd, but that's the only game that experiences problems. I'll talk to him to see if he remembers the brand.

EDIT: I dug it up at our message board from when he was posting about it. It's an "M-AUDIO USB/MIDI interface connector".
