Keep in mind that VGA is VIDEO only...you aren't going to GET audio from a VGA signal. That will be in a separate cable, probably RCA straight-through or a 1/8" cable to RCA adaptor/cable. The only video medium that is going to get audio with its video in the ones you mentioned is HDMI because it includes it completely in its bandwidth and cable.

Anything I've had experience for in terms of converting VGA to anything standard def being S-Video in quality or lower went through a VGA-to-TV convertor box, which generally is about 100 dollars or less in retail depending on where you go and generally doesn't do too bad on the convert at that price. Ironically, the other way around going TV to VGA costs much less, usually, and generally doesn't have as good a quality.

Anything outside of a convertor box I've not tried. All I know is that they work.
