I was sniffing around, and looking for changing Vista polling rates and this is what i found

it says at your own risk, but if you're still having tons of problems.. this should work.

EDIT:
also found that hidusb.sys works quite well with vista. I prefer this solution much better as it has a lot less fiddling with your system, and this is much more simple. click, install volia.
