I've input all the Secret Unlock Codes for SN2 on my machine, and I did enter them in as if I were playing them on Doubles (well, how "I" would've done them on doubles anyway), but that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to a basic doubles crossovers I bet.. that and i didn't have to do it at 400 bpm.
I don't think I would hold onto the bar unless required (like for Healing D Vision Oni on Singles... i'm not sure if i could ever crossover back and forth that fast ever without holding onto the bar and keeping balance. I'd have to use one hand on the bar for that I would imagine). I'm not a bar user for singles, so I'd most likely not use them on doubles.
