It's a tragedy and all, but while it wasn't the kid's fault, it sure as hell is the family's. I wouldn't fire a weapon like that, unless I was provided with proper training first.
If the kid has his parents' genes, and isn't adopted or something, that pretty much is a cleansing of the gene pool.
