Turn your shit off when you're not using it, dust occasionally, and leave it horizontal. I'll be honest, the 360 is not a well-built system. You're taking a chance with any model. With that said, newer ones are less prone to failure, and I'm running a launch box with no problems beyond a lack of hard drive space.

And can you copy pictures, properly converted movies and music to the hard drive from USB Flash Drives? I want to put a wallpaper on the 360 interface.

Yeah, you can do this, but with the NXE dash it'll look pretty crummy. For music and movies, use TVersity or Windows Media Center to stream to the system from your PC and you'll save a lot of drive space and time.
