Default Using mad catz 360 pads to build a converter

I was thinking about building a pad converter out of some Mad Catz pads (MC because they're cheap). I don't really have room for 2 sets (PS2 and 360) so I thought it might be a good idea to use the Mad Catz guts to build a breakout box that I could connect my PS2 pads to. I'd do it by putting a DB-15 cable on the old pads that connects the sensors directly to the pcb from the Mad Catz ones.

My questions are:

1. Can anyone think of a reason why this wouldn't work? I'm going under the assumption that all the sensors for these things use basically the same technology.

2. Where's a good place to get cheap pads? Damaged is fine (preferable, even), as long as the PCB is working.
