And, without warning, Mootz Mix 2 is already here! I figured it would be more exciting if I just went ahead and released instead of giving a few weeks notice.

Looking back on Mootz Mix 1, I can’t say that I’m 100% satisfied with it. The pack had WAY too many crossovers and WAY WAY too many mines. Taking that into consideration, I made Mootz Mix 2 with the player in mind. The average number of mines per chart is about 60. There are a few outliers, some having 0, others having 120+. I also cut down on crossovers, particularly 180 degree turns. I think these charts turned out to be MUCH more fun. I doubt anyone will like EVERYTHING in the pack, but that was sort of the point; I wanted to have an equal balance of 16th stream files, simple fun files, and gimmicked to hell files. Tell me what you think! Alright, time for the descriptions:

NOTICE: As an added bonus, I put two extra “bonus” files in the pack. These files are revised versions of Dumfiesta and Bedtime Story from Mootz Mix 1. These charts were awesome, but they had too many mines, so I fixed that. I think the revisions are much better.

Bokutte Upa –
Expert 10 – 128 bpm:
This was the last file I made for the pack, and it’s also one of my favorites. The song is full of fun, interesting rhythms. There are many 16ths, a few crossovers, a stop, some really cool mines, and two awesome rolls. Oh yeah, and there are some really fun spins in this one too <3 I almost used this as my comp file

Choppastyle –
Expert 12 – 130 bpm:
This chart will appear in Jimbo’s Kings of the Coast tournament, something that I’m really proud of. It’s 80% 16th streams, but they are very carefully crafted and accent the music very nicely. I made sure that the 24th note runs accent the beats properly, something that many 24th note charts don’t do. The ending run is pretty tough, so be ready!

Destination Helios –
Expert 14 – 209 bpm
I loved this song from Mungyodance, but wasn’t too fond of the steps. This is a toned down version of MGD’s 14, and has plenty of 16ths, accenting mines, bpm changes, stops, and rolls (3.9 beware!).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Down With the King –
Expert 12 – 104 bpm
Wow, where to start. This is by far the most gimmick ridden file of the bunch. MANY stops and a weird bpm trick towards the end. NOT for the faint of heart.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Epic Adventure –
Expert 11 – 130-160 bpm
A joke file composed by me. An epic, Prince Valiant style chiptune leads into something a bit more familiar. A well known friend makes a surprise appearance at the end!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heart of Witch –
Expert 12 - 170 bpm
An awesome song from Dj. Max full of violin and piano. There are plenty of 16ths, 8th jacks, a few mines, and some accenting holds. The file ends with a pretty cool set of hands too.

Heaven Above –
Expert 10 – 130 bpm
A really old chart of mine from groovestats. I took a look at it and thought that it was pretty fun, so I decided to include it. A made this before I saw Jimbo’s, yet we have many of the same bpm changes. I fun 10.

His Morning Promenade –
Expert 10 – 146 bpm
A fun bitpop song from a well known artist. This has more mines than any other file in the pack. I thought about taking some out, but decided against it. Every mine goes to a handclap.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Horizon –
Expert 13 – 160 bpm
Starts off slow and then speeds up to 160 where the 16th streams begin (and don’t really end until the song finishes). A pretty stamina draining file.

I Love r21 Freak –
Expert 9 – 175 bpm
I remember making a promise to r21 freak saying that I’d write a song about how much I loved the site. I didn’t forget that promise, so here you are guys <3 Some fun jacks, double stepping, and spins are the highlights of this file. Shoutouts to TEEX, zimmy, Steve Reen, Blazing, [ICNH], NEMO, Kindan, sssmsm, Gloves, shadowobsessed, monster joe (with 3s in the appropriate places), Helvetica, b4mv, Kyzentun, NIQ9, virtually emotionless, Mandodo, joe#2, and anyone else who I left out.
And, of course, credit for the r21 freak logo goes to ixtli.

Kinematografen –
Expert 9 – 125 bpm
A nice warm-up with mines, crossovers, rolls, and double-stepping. I short song, but an effective chart.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kirlian Shores –
Expert 12 – 105 bpm
This is an incredible song by the Flashbulb. It was very difficult to step, but I think that I followed the rhythms 99% percent accurately. I had to slow down the music rate to .5 to make sure. I’d say this is a 12 to pass, but a 13 to FA. Many mines are used to accent a certain harmonic sound.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Large Scale Aggressor –
Expert 14 – 190 bpm
This is pretty tough. It gives you plenty of breaks in the middle, but doesn’t really let up at all in the end. NEEDS STAMINAS.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

R8U –
Expert 11 – 160 bpm
A really energetic song. The chart has a lot of jumps, so, if jumps aren’t your thing, you may not enjoy this. The ending uses stops to add to the intensity. There are a couple of hands in the middle and a brief speed-up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rain –
Expert 10 – 129 bpm
One of my top 3 favorite Flashbulb songs of all time. This one’s off of his 2000 album M^3, so it’s some of his earlier work. The chart was actually really tough to make, mainly because the rhythms aren’t spelled out very clearly. When there aren’t many gimmicks or mines to make a chart interesting, all that’s left are the rhythms and step placement; I think both shine in this file. One of my favorites.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rock-a-doodle-doo –
Expert 10 – 135 bpm.
This is a really cool rap song from Dj. Max. Most of the rhythms go to the vocals, so there are a few 12 notes. There’s a cool roll in the middle and a lot of stops. The stops throw off the natural rhythms of the music, so I suggest running this one through in stepmania a few times before padding it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SQUEEZE –
Expert 11 – 147 bpm
Another Dj. Max song. This one is lively eurobeat, and the steps add to that energy. There’s one stop in this file, but, other than that, it’s an easy site-read. Accenting holds and mines are the highlight of this file.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Super Duper Komputer –
Expert 10 – 192 bpm
A fun bitpop song by rymdkraft. The chart has some jacks, a slowdown, a roll, and some really fun mines. There’s a nice amount of variety in this file. Makes for a nice warm-up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Rise of Emo –
Expert 11 – 183 bpm
I got this song off of a really cool breakcore album. The song sets itself up for some cool gimmicks, so you might want to play this in stepmania before padding it. The original had too many mines, so I removed a few.
