Well first and foremost, you've got to be using component connections. This is because composite video connectors will really give shitty picture (just like when I compared both JVC CRT TV with my newer Samsung LCD Widescreen TV for BM IIDX PS2 versions).
Another thing though to worry about is the lag. Apparently, most HDTV sets today are not up to it and thus the experience is unbearable (i.e. due to cost-cutting and lousy I-P conversion in the video processing engines of these TVs, etc.)
As of the moment though, only Panasonic Viera sets (starting from the 10th generation models) and a few Sharp Aquos sets are fully up to the task for making sure that playing Bemani games with your PS2 is a satisfying experience.
That's pretty much all I can say on this I guess....
