It takes a while to climb the 37/38 wall. I know I've had my struggles with it.
Everyone's covered all of the basic points except for one, which may be the most brokenly powerful tactic, if done with the right timing -- Stop playing the game.
I'm serious. Not forever, of course (I wouldn't want to encourage people to drop the game entirely!); just for a time. It very much helps if you play other rhythm games as an aside to fill the time during your hiatus.
What this does is that it basically gets rid of any bad habits you may possess. When you come back to pop'n in two or three weeks, you may notice (after warming up, it's been a while, after all!) that you can attack particular patterns in better ways.
Case in point - I stopped playing for about three weeks to work on my DrumMania skill; when I came back, I was able to clear three more 42s, of which one (IDM [EX]) had been stumping me for the longest time because of the scales at the end. |
