I think he probably knew about them, but he didn't keep up with ItG all that much ... being employed at Konami and all.
As for the announcer, he told me it was going to be people from Ozomatli long before it actually came out. I thought this was an awesome idea, judging from their songs.
I wasn't aware they were going to choose the worst possible people from said group trying to sound overly urban. :P
