The programs are called "iMovie HD" and "Final Cut" I'm not sure how they exactly work but it apparently allows you to do that task.

Apparently, we've got another video card for the computers so one computer will be getting a hand-me-down upgrade I think I may try experimenting with this idea myself.
iMovie and Final Cut are only for the Mac, I highly doubt they released it for windows.
