If you play with the hard mod enabled you'll get a DDR-style groove gauge, but as the name implies, it's harder | Only Arcade IIDX auto-fails you, and that's after exactly 50 notes of not trying at all.
And Hard life bar in Lunatic Rave 2 can fail you after 8 misses (which were not all complete miss poors), so its Survival life bar is far more strict than IIDX's Hard bar that requires 10 complete misses to fail you.
