While I do enjoy that album, I contend that rock started going downhill with Freddie Mercury's death. That's around the time Nirvana started getting really popular. Bush had a good album, but were more of a "last gasp" before things really turned to shit.
Not that there weren't good rock albums in the 90s-00s, but they're much further between.
