From my convo with Zounder on this issue...
PlatinumHawke (1:24:28 AM): yea
PlatinumHawke (1:24:39 AM): I mean, why does simfiling have to be me against you
PlatinumHawke (1:24:44 AM): it should be together
PlatinumHawke (1:34:35 AM): and the main point is... there's no judging, no winners or anything like that
PlatinumHawke (1:35:03 AM): a long time ago Sivus did want to have a "fun-a-mix"
PlatinumHawke (1:35:30 AM): where everyone forgot about placing for a while
SF Zounder (1:37:10 AM): yeah
PlatinumHawke (1:37:30 AM): that's what Id' realy like to see happen
You know, I'd really rather this fully revert back to Tournamix, or atleast how Sivus invisioned it. No, I don't mean the absolute debacle that TM6 was, I mean how TM1 or TM2 were (even though I wasn't around for either). I remember somewhere in between 5 and 6, Sivus was wanting to see the annual Tournamix move away from a competition, and more to a get together of simfilers from all over, regardless of skill level and actually have a good time. Not to have these constant fights over things that don't matter (I'll admit I've been getting sucked into them on occasion, despite my trying to keep out of them).
In all honesty, I would have liked to continue judging and go out on a better note. But this isn't worth it, it really isn't. Everyone's opinion is wrong, that's half the attitude I get, and the other party is "I know/am better than you" that's been soaking around since TM4+. This is a thankless job half the time at best. During last years meltdowns on DDREI, I don't recall one person saying on the boards even thanking any of us for the time it took to organize, run or keep everything from falling apart. All it was, endless complaints about this, that and the other thing.
It's real easy to bitch, but to be grateful. Even if the latter is just two words long.
Well, I can't completely use the same brush to paint the OSC with. Atleast someone has appriciated us for the hard work, even if they didn't agree with us 100%. |
