I've always felt that the scope of the thing is too big. People have barely a week to play and review 20+ files and assign points to them (that they'd better be able to back up, it seems). This leads to quick playthroughs of most songs on whatever the hardest difficulty is, once, and mistakes get made. These mistakes cost the author points, though.

Taking out some of the time restrictions can only help. Instead of doing it over four weeks with four different brackets, why not release everything at once and let it go for a month? You could still organize it into brackets, but it'd just be a few clicks to say what bracket your file is meant for in the readme. This would also give the judges far more time to get it all done; we don't want rushed judging, either. And corrections (ie. this is not a doublestep, etc) would have plenty of time to be fixed in the PR's. You can then have your bonus round week or whatever, chosen from the top of each bracket, or just the top # overall.

Having a 'how can this be improved' section in the reviews would be wonderful. Also, making art worth less overall would be fantastic.
