I am officially off AOL Browser, but because I have no other ISP, I'm still connecting through AOL Dialer (So I don't have to bring up that nasty IE like monster of a program)
I'm on AIM 6 Beta, it's just like Triton 1.5, but it's BETA
Also, I'm using FireFox now~
Am I cool yet?

And try Opera, but I only say that because I'm a supporter of it over Firefox. :P

And for a while, I've been letting it run overnight and in the day, and still no connection drop.
Also, I'm not using Gaim or Trillian because I'd rather have a free product then using an opensource (Or GPL, whatever it is) for a free product. I always though GPL and opensource was only for alternatives to commercial products. Once I move (Which will take a while, unfortunately) I'm going to use a different ISP, but for now, I'm stuck with AOL. And don't say "Why can't you just change your ISP?", because I'm still a kid and my SISTER pays for my internet (Thank god we have low monthly fee and not by rate.)
EDIT: I'm such a bum :/

Why does AOL suck? Speed. Or rather, lack thereof. Not to mention the standard problems with dialup. But even for dialup, AOL is pretty slow.
Oh, and how about all that resource-eating crap they give you in their inefficient programs?
Open source as an alternative to commercial products...? Firefox is open source. Open source just means you can get in and do stuff directly to it. Commercial programs are generally not open source because they want to charge people to get the fancy upgrades and tools. Keeping control over the source code lets the company control what its users can do.
As for payment... uh... most decent ISPs use monthly rates. I can't think of any that use rates based on usage. Unless you're talking use of the phone line, which can be avoided by not using dialup.

How are they still in business anyway? Who wants 56k let alone a bunch of random bullshit installed on their computer?
I like trillian anyway. Its free, no ads, no popups, and it works a lot better.

And for a while, I've been letting it run overnight and in the day, and still no connection drop. | Random programs that do nothing for you, low connection speeds, RAM and processor hog, high prices. Though I hear their anti-virus program is pretty good. Quote: |

I always though GPL and opensource was only for alternatives to commercial products. | The thing about AIM is that it has advertisements that make noises and irritating windows if you accidentally roll your mouse over them. I know you sign onto MSN as well, and that program also uses a shit ton of RAM like AIM does. If you use Gaim or Trillian you will not only have no ads, but you can sign into all your IM accounts at once, use less resources, use less space in your taskbar and system tray, and have more features available for use.
I've converted other people to Gaim. It's simpler than Trillian in appearance, though I've never had the chance to use Trillian before. I'll just stick with Gaim, though. Finally, there is Miranda IM, but it doesn't let you use more than one account per service.

No, I use it specifically because with its AIM client, I can log into my decoy account and it will actually tell me who's logged in on any of my buddy lists, so if I want to avoid someone? Block 'em from that account, and have it carry over to the main.
