::DDR Extreme PS2 Review::

Ladies and gentleman, its the game everyone's waiting for... 2 years AFTER the arcade version came out... WHAT?!?!?!?!

That's right, Konami turned on us with this game. Waiting for things is NEVER, EVER a good thing. Not only that, but they waited WAAAAAAAAAY too long for this game to hit the PS2 consols. The MAIN reason... ITG was just around the corner to take the title away from DDR for "Best Dancing Game Series". And it almost did, if it wasn't for Extreme 2 and SuperNova. So right now DDR and ITG are evenly matched.

But I digress... like i said, Konami turned on us with US version of Extreme. For one thing, we got a new theme... AND IT SUCKED! Plain, dull, and boring... which is probably why Konami went back to the traditional theme in Extreme 2. Second, the party games... GAY! But not ALL of them, just the ones that DIDN'T use Eye-Toy. This songlist looks like Konami was doing good so far, but then somewhere during the middle of the project they decided to take a big shit on it. I mean c'mon... KAREOKE SONGS?!, OLD 80's ROCK MUSIC?! Ok class, time for math lesson...

DDR + Konami Originals = Kick-Ass game
DDR + KR Songs (Song that sound like they belong in Kareoke Revolution) = STEAMING PILE OF ASS!

Let's face it... NO ONE is going to dance to BELIEVE, ESPECIALLY if it sounds WORSE than Cher's version. Songs like this are just wasted space for songs that COULD HAVE MADE IT INTO THE GAME! This version COULD have been almost an identical arcade version, but its not. PARANOiA Survivor and Survivor Max COULD have made their first appearence HERE instead of Extreme 2 but it DIDNT. Although I must admit, MAXIMIZER is the best damn song on the game

Moving on to Mission Mode... I know what your thinking, "What a waste of space for more songs that COULD have made it into the game". Now hold on though, there IS a logic to Konami's madness. This is the start of our official training to go into outer space... more specifically, the Stellar Joints (DDR SuperNova). In fact, i think that if it wasnt for ITG, Mission Mode and Dance Master Mode and Stellar Master Mode wouldn't have been made. Think about it... all the messed up MODS and ARROWS originated from ITG (and for those of you REALLY into this, ITG originated from Stepmania... but lets pretend Stepmania doesn't exist). For example, the white judging pannel arrows being in different places and the arrows scrolling up the screen back and forth up and down... that came from ITG. (Accelleration = WAVE and Scoll = SPLIT... or something like that). So I think Konami shouldn't have sued RoXor at all, specially if THEY were gonna borrow their ideas as well. Basically its a win/win situation. Anywho, to wrap this up, if you complete all 100 missions you unlock everything in the game, so practice, practice, practice.

Oh, and one more thing... MEMORIES IS NOT IN THE GAME AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP TRYING TO UNLOCK IT CAUSE ITS NOT GOING TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Konami pulled the same crap they did with Butterfly only THIS TIME, you CAN play it in the game. How? Find someone who has an edit data for that song. You'll only be able to play the song in TRAINING MODE! Hope your computer has a hook up for your memory cards... Happy Hunting ^_^

its kinda odd how you probably would have never found out that Memories even existed in the first place, it took a thread from BMS FOR ME TO REALIZE THAT THE SONG EXISTED!!!! after all of the hard work i went through to unlock these retarded songs {not to mention Go West, and Only You} i still wasnt finished!?!

Interesting, but maybe you should clean this up more so that it sounds more like an objective review, and less like angry rambling?

This hardly feels like a review, since lots of comparisons are made to ITG, and a lot of assumptions are made of the status of DDR and ITG today.
