As of now, it is only available in the arcades, but rumors have been heard that a home version may come out for PS2 as soon as fall/winter 2006! This game is almost identical to DDR Extreme, but with some major AND minor changes. The game play is the same, up, down, left, and right, but many options and graphics are different.
First, the songs. The songs have 7 different groupings, Beginner (with simple songs, for beginners), Easy [light] (with somewhat harder songs, for slightly experienced players), Medium [standard] (with even harder songs for even more experienced players) and Hard [heavy] (which is for the most experienced players, this includes all the Max songs). Than there is challenge and nonstop modes, like in DDR extreme, and finally All Music, which, obviously, has all the songs! Please note, that the modes beginner-hard, only have the songs available in that certain group, meaning that hard mode, for example, only has the songs in that group, and does not include the songs from beginner-medium modes. The songs may seem familiar to all you experienced DDR players too, I have found at least 90% of the songs that were available in Extreme available in all music mode. There are also some new songs.
Next, the graphics. The graphics for the arrows are slightly different, with more rounded edges. Also, the background isn’t made of little movie clips like in extreme, but is more like the home versions of DDR with the characters dancing in the background, which can be a bit of an annoyance. The select song screen is also more rounded, and has different colors from extreme.
Finally, the options. The Options screen for the songs is accessed the same, (Hold the [ ] button after choosing the song) but, there are some new options, and some changes (I may leave some out, and I will fix this as soon as possible) The note skins have some changes, default, solo, and flat are still there, but there is not note, which changes the color to the notes (red for 1/4, blue for 1.8, etc) and rainbow, which (I believe) makes the arrows random colors. In this version you can also turn jumps and holds off. The final change is that the mode Little (which takes all steps out of the song except for the 1/4 notes) has been renamed Cut.
My personal opinion of this game is that it is a truly outstanding version, with few, minor flaws (The background during songs, for example) I strongly recommend that any DDR fan try it out. It will be a unique experience.
I give this game a 9/10 rating!
Happy playing!
EDIT: I was asked to review the songs/stepcharts, so here it is!
As I briefly mentioned, there are many songs from DDR Extreme in it, all of which have the same stepcharts as on extreme (May be different on beginner-medium, I only play heavy/challenge, and I kjnow them pretty well) But, with the new songs, such as Centerfold (A personal favorite of mine, I have been trying to my dismay to make steps for the original, but always failed) has steps that were perfectly synced. There are some spots where you think a step is missing, but it still has great steps! The stepcharts for the new songs are very well done. But I was slightly dissappointed by a lack of a new Max song. (That is available in the song selection, not ES or OMES) [This, BTW, does not change my original rating. I have, however, seen people playing chaos and FAXX from the roulette (if anyone knows, please tell me how!) This is it for my review, if you would like to see anything else reviewed, please let me know!

Translation: Not to flame, but have you listened to the cuts of No. 13, Xepher, Red ZOne and the other IIDX songs?

I do that all the time. | dude.. to play FAXX u need to AA or better TLOM maniac and im not sure, but if u AA (any 8-10 foot song)? u may be able to do it
But if you do this.. than ur awesome
SONG 1 (Any song/grade/level/mods)
SONG 2 (Any song/grade/level/mods)
SONG 3 (Any 8-10 foot song?/AA or better/maniac)
Extra Stage (FAXX/AA or better/maniac/1.5x reverse, no regain, rainbow)
OMES (Chaos/MUST AA or better/Maniac/sudden death)
If you can do that, than you are a DDR Legend.
For extra stage and OMES, u pretty much need to get all perfects, greats, and O.K.'s
and on OMES, if you get a good, boo, miss, or NG you automatically failed.
Please note that to AA a song, you must get the final score to be 93-100 percent of the maximum possible score for the level
(I have never AA'd a song at the arcade, and i barely get a C on TLOM Standard, but i can get an A on Rhythm and police maniac.. i'm an enigma.. but im not gonna be seeing FAXX or CHAOS for a damn long time, unless i acquire god-loke DDR Powers overnight)

Ok, to play Fascination MAXX......
Select either All Music or Difficult mode.
Play your first 2 songs as normal.
Now on your third stage select the song on EXPERT. Any foot rating will give you an AA, so if it's either a 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 or a 10 and you AA it, you'll get Fascination MAXX.
The mods for Fascination MAXX are 1.5x, Reverse and No Recover.
To play Healing-D-Vision......
Select Easy or Medium mode.
Play your first 2 songs as normal.
Now on your third stage select the song on Expert. There will probably be no songs higher than 8, so it should be releatively easy. AA it and Healing-D-Vision pops up.
The mods are 1.5x, Reverse and No Recover.
To get CHAOS.....
Get any EXTRA STAGE.
If your Extra Stage was Fascination MAXX, then AA it to advance.
If your Extra Stage was Healing-D-Vision, then A it to advance.
CHAOS should now appear.
The only mod for CHAOS is Sudden Death. One Good or below will destroy you.
Clearing this song with any grade does not give any special rewards that anybody knows of yet.....
Hope this helped
BTW, I always use Can't Stop Falling In Love (Super Euro Mix) to get myself ES. It's easy on 1.5x and has no Freeze Arrows so no pad misses
EDIT: In your poll you forgot all about Healing-D-Vision! | |
