Default ::DDRMAX PS2 Review::

The fourth home version release and FIRST PS2 release.

The game is ENTIRELY based on the 6th mix... and the song list is NOT based entirely on the 6th mix... let me explain...

The song list takes songs from 4th, 5th, club,and VERY FEW 6th. But heres the bonus... exclusive home version songs made an appearence on this game that didnt make an ARCADE APPEARENCE till DDR Extreme (8th mix). Songs like "Dynamite Rave (Down Bird SOTA Mix), and "Drop The Bomb (System SF Mix)" were gifts from Konami to us (although you had to go through a hell of alot of trouble to unlock them... specially Drop The Bomb remix). This is also the same version that licensed songs started to make their appearence... some from Europe, and some from right here in US. It seemed like a good idea at first, and it was... untill their later versions of DDR. You'll find out more bout that soon.

Song List:

KONAMI'S MISTAKES:

1) Song list could be WAAAAAAAY more better. The addition of exclusive home version songs and actually good licensed songs adds a nice touch to the game, but like i said earlier... there could have been MORE 6th mix songs added to the list. At least konami did its job good... Every new version after the previous version should have more songs in the songlist. But there are still songs on their that leave question marks... for example: PARANOiA Max (Dirty Mix)(Another). If there is one thing I HATED about the Club versions is that when the Substream 2p link version came out in Japan, konami made doubles of half the songs on that game, which was really, really, really retarded. PARANOiA Max not only got a double, but ANOTHER double if its double... WTF?!?!?!?! Waste of a space for a good song if you ask me... Just like Cutie chaser (Morning Mix), ITS THE SAME SONG JUST ARRANGED DIFFERENTLY. Another waste of a song space. In addition to that, I think some songs that made a re-appearence in the game could have waited till a LATER version of DDR to make a re-appearence. Like Brilliant2U (Orchestra Groove) for example. 8th mix came out, and this song gets Challenge steps. DDR didnt create the challenge difficulty till 7th mix. I think that when they added the original and KOG G3 mix of Brilliant2U on Extreme 2, they should have included the Orchestra Groove as well to complete the trilogy and get that over with.

2) The unlock system by far is the most F#@k'ed up system in DDR home version history (not to be confused with the most GAYEST unlocking system in DDR history, which is what Extreme 2 and SuperNova has). In order to unlock Gentle Stress remix and Celebrate respectively, you had to fail a song from arcade mode and a course in ONI mode respectively. In order to unlock Silent Hill, you DIDNT have to pass Extra Stage, you just had to ACHIEVE getting the extra stage. Once you unlocked MAX 300, there was a HUGE gap between the game, and you couldn't unlock crap till you passed at least 50 or 60 more songs after you unlocked MAX 300 (this is where EVENT MODE comes in handy). And finally, if you couldn't pass the super hard HARDCORE ONI course, you had to wait till you passed your 500th song in arcade mode to unlock the very last song, Drop The Bomb (System SF Mix).

That's not exactly contributing. Say something like, "I agree with this review because _____" or "I disagree because ___"

Just a friendly tip.
