Creator of music games

I dont know who the original creator of this music game genre, but he/she was a freekin genious. If anyone can do a bit of research i would really like to know what teh original music game was, who created it, and whatever else you can dig up.

This seems like a bit of a post-whorish topic to me. I'd guess that some guy working for a major gaming company presented the idea at the quarterly meeting and it all went down from there.

I'm not sure who made the first one, but I think Parappa the Rapper is considered a pretty big innovator.

I personally consider Tetsuya Mitsuguchi the god of the genre, but that's because he's singlehandedly made some of my favorite music games ever.

AFAIK PaRappa the Rapper was the first.

I guess you have to go back to when it all begun back in '96. Probably the guys who first developed DDR, I guess. I really dunno what other games where out at that time that mainly focused on Music, like Beatmania and DDR.

PaRappa the Rapper came in 1996. Beatmania came in 1997. DDR in 1998.
