Alright, so I've had a play of this for a while on closed beta, and so far well...

It has potential, but its pretty 'lmaowtf' at the moment. Still a WIP.

The good: Well... um... it looks ok? The avatar / chara design is pretty neat (even tho theres only one face / body shape at the moment). The costumes are cool. Some of the songs made me lol. Speed mods do exist, and it runs quite nicely on my computer. There are a few noteskins too. Ok backgrounds...

The bad: Not many songs, most are rubbish, not many are onsync, the freeze arrow implementation is f**ked (on purpose). You have to let go just before it ends (not too early) and if you get it right the combo goes up.... uhhh.... yeah. Horrible stepcharts on most counts that don't match the song that well. Not enough BG's, modifiers, the dance routines are all the same for everybody.
Far too many random misses. The scoring on team matches.

The weird: Naruto / DBZ / Final fantasy costumes. Hahahaha

So yeah, anyone else playing this?

Seconded. The game's okay, but those freeze-arrows are extremely stupid. I also don't like how you can't play the game with one hand, "as if you were really dancing." ... yeah. It's funny how they intend to add dancepad support to this game, because you won't be able to touch half the songs up there (you need 8 feet for Guitar Rave 13 )

The song selection is quite interesting... it seems that they're trying to include something for everyone. Never expected to see Cyprus Hill and techno in the same game...

Another critique I need to add to list is the fact that the game's scored kinda like In The Groove, where long combos = more points than more perfects. In the end, this game is a FC-grind... aside from that, worth a try. I kinda want to play the Japanese DANCE! ;3

I signed up awhile ago, but they never sent me an e-mail. I wasn't expecting much from the game.

Holy shit, this game is so bad... I was just laughing the entire time as I was winning against the newbs. Horrible notecharts, horrible music, the game for some reason runs like shit on my AMD64 4800x2, with 7950GT 512mb card. You can't change any graphical settings to my knowledge, and the game desperately needs AA.

Anyone else notice how it doesn't seem to register the arrows on long streams? That or the charts are really offsync. Timing windows just feel very weird.

EDIT 2 : Apperently I ran Fraps and I am geting about 350 FPS during gameplay. Now it goes up and down about 40 FPS and I don't see anyway to actually cap the damn framerate. It makes it lag and jump at times. People have confirmed that you can't change anything about the graphics, which just sucks ass. Its running at such a low resolution, that there are just jaggies all over the screen.

The game just feels way to much like some Anime jerk-off fanclub. You can get "married", send love letters, dress up in different outfits that make everyone look like homosexuals....

I was having fun when I found a room of people who played on SMO, and it was nice to actually play against people who can play songs besides the stuff my dog can do by running around on pad. (I shit you not. For most of the easy songs that everyone plays, I was just mashing all 4 keys at the same time to a constant beat.) Got boring REALLY quick, since there were only about 5 songs worth playing, and you play them over and over and over again.

Currently, there really aren't too many hard charts. I can't even pass a lot of stuff in the Keyboard Mega pack, but I was owning these songs.

I didn't really have any issues with the arrow sync... maybe it's an issue with your monitor? I wouldn't know... and I don't think that the game is good enough to warrant exploration. Then again, to give Acclaim credit, it IS still in Beta stage (hell, it's still [i]CLOSED/I] beta). Having played Stepmania a long time ago, I have to say that the timing is rather lenient in this game. Then again, the easy timing is balanced by &*#$@& notecharts.

A lot of the stuff is probably just ported over from the Asian versions of the game, hence the focus on marrying and whatnot. However, the Japanese version's avatar are much more anime-ish than the International version -- the male and female characters both look rather Caucasian. Somehow, I think that makes the game look less... "authentic," for lack of a better word :/

DANCE! is a good game to play when you have nothing else to do, or want to just pass time. Unlike Pangya, I can't imagine paying money for this game...

I play. But I can't say anything or post anything or I'd get my CB account revoked because of the NDA or whatever it's called. I recommend you take the picture off, dj TAKA, or you might find yourself without an account. And with a game such as this, which is probably the best game I've ever played with the most possible potential to be even greater, that would suck.

I can say that everyone is in for a treat when it comes out. It's the ultimate MMO, period. I've been playing for about 12 hours solid within 1 and half days.

Beta is lacking in alot of areas, but the awesome thing they did with the freezes and the huge success with SDO confirms a promising final release.

Yes, because they are really running around looking for people who are showing screenshots of the game. Just use mspaint if you really care. I never actually got an email or any form of agreement, I just signed up on the website, and then tried to play the next day and it let me in.

Whats so great about it?... Its a complete rip-off of SMO. I actually don't know what came first, but I'd rather play SMO with a bunch of friends. Essentially it is the same game, but SMO is more personal and private, plus your own songs can be played.

I don't understand why it's so addicting? What appeals to you about this game? Please elaborate. I think its bad, you think its good, so offer us some insight?

You think the developers are going to be able to hunt you down by posting on these forums? How? Just don't tell us your in-game name?...

So far this is what I've seen. You get in a room after dressing up your character (who begins to remind you of fond Rocky Horror Picture Show memories) and you play a game of DDR. It just so happens a bunch of people in the same room are playing the same song at the same time. Its kinda interesting, but since its based purely on skill and nothing the other players do can actually affect anyone else.... Theres really no point in playing with other people unless you just like the social aspect. Kinda like... SMO, but with a ton of strangers and annoying people?

The scoring system is ... in a word... bad? It remind me of when getting a FC in DDR would give you an AA regardless. I actually had a lower letter grade and still won the match. I don't really understand the system, but the "combo" has way to much influence to make sense.

The song limitations and so-so notecharts will probably be fixed after the game gets on its feet, but the game engine itself needs some work. Seeing as this is a localization of an already finished game... I'm not holding my breath on that one. You shouldn't have to have a bad computer to run the game at good steady framerates.

I'll be honest, I see potential for the game. However, it will take a lot of work to make the game something on the level of o2Jam or DJMax. So far, the music has been pretty bad, and no one plays any of the songs except for a few.

I play all the songs. I like most of them. Some of them are far worse than others, but none-the-less, their still pretty good. The steps are fun on keyboard, but would be totally boring on pad. and sporadic. So they should have that worked on by final release.

SMO has no graphical background so to speak of. oooh. Videos. Who cares? There is no customization to SMO, and it feels... very unofficial to play your own music in a music game. Which is why I don't like ITG2 R21 that much, other than the fact anything I put on my USB card will be better than the bullcrap on ITG2. I like having my own character to build and level up. It creates an addiction SMO cannot fulfill.

HioMrSan, let's put it this way. I have a catalog full of stepmania paddable (full chart) songs. I won't play the whole catalog. I reorganize and edit themes with only about 200 songs a stepmania install to make it feel more real. I HATE the unofficial feeling. I have to have everything customized and maybe even lowered just so I have the official feeling, even if I have to "downgrade" the amount of songs and the mods on the list. Otherwise, it's just not fun and feels like a 5 year old threw it together.

DANCE! innovates a community thats not only stepmania-inclined, but all over the music game world. O2jammers, PIU-specific players, and the like. And shoves it all together in one VERY NICELY choreographed, dance-filled, amazing world.

This game is more or less the answer to my prayers.

You are probably a person who would rather play stepmania with a pad than a PS2 game of DDR. I can't. I want that feeling of official. Unofficial feeling things are boring to me.

I like the scoring system. It makes since to me. Since I only get one or two greats on the hardest song anyway.

And I just summed up the game and why I like it without breaking the NDA at all. Yay me.

(And my username here is the same as my DANCE! one. So I can't break the NDA, because they do look around places like this for discussion. But I've done alot of bug finding, and I haven't revealed a damn thing. So I'm fine anyway. I just didn't want TAKA getting kicked off of such a great beta.)
