You put the game in and load it. Then, you take the game out once a game is started and insert a music CD. The game proceeds to create steps to whatever songs are on the CD. This seems like a good idea, but I havent seen any videos that would support the notion that it contains anything of a decent difficulty. The only ones I saw had steps that I would consider an easy Standard chart. I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about the game or it's difficulty. It seems interesting, for I would enjoy dancing to Nine Inch Nails and the like, but the only videos I saw had crap steps. I couldnt even really tell if the steps were synced (you would think they would be, or you couldnt consider it custom steps). The game is slated for an August 26 release, I believe.

I mean, if you think about it, they are looking to seek out new customers, not just the people who already play (some people wouldnt like the music choice on normal dance games, this can appeal to anyone who doesn't weigh 600 pounds or have a club foot). If they showed extremely difficult step charts for the preview videos, they would probably intimidate their new potential customers. But, I think for this to work out very well, it would need to use not only a difficulty selection for the steps created, but a number difficulty (foot level, etc). That way you could play whatever you want as an 8 or 9. Regardless of what I hear, I'll probably have to buy it and Supernova. If my dad would get rid of his exercise equipment (he has tons and never uses it), I could move my computer downstairs and just play Stepmania with my USB/XBOX/PS2 metal pad, but until then, I'm stuck with PS2 versions. I am considering buying an XBOX and Ultramixes when I get a job so I have more to do, though. And regardless of difficulty, there's always a familiar market left. PIU players love to freestyle, and the steps would leave more room for it if they were slower.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | yeah. the down and the up are fucked up(not swapped, there's a forumla, and you fucking stick to it!) the game looks gay as all hell. they try to bring back the whole monster rancher "unlock your disc" bullshit. buy a USB converter instead of this peice of shit.
and a note on codemasters. al their games are copies of recent titles taht are mildly successful(dance factory=ddr/Stepmania, Second sight=Psi ops, time splitters is the exception) and they always fuck with the formula to make it fall FLAT on it's face. second sight was turned into the worst stealth action game of all time, dance factory's arrows are fucked with. QUIT MOLESTING GAMES CODE MASTERBATERS

I really wanna test it though. I wanna throw in some Komprex, m1dy, and DJ Sharpnel and see what it'll come up with.

From the sounds of it nothing is harder then a standard song.. and it won't be synced. People(including me) will still try it tho, trying never hurt anyone.
edit: Now With Pics!
Yes this is Dance Factory.

Didn't the PSX Vib game do something like this?

I think its time to take this one back into the development stages and keep hammering the technical stuff out. | |
