This is my first experience with the insides of the machine, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether I'd have any trouble running the older mixes instead. Is it as simple as swap carts, power on, swap discs, play?
Also, what would it take to run Dance Freaks on the same hardware? Another disc and cart? Or are the machines incompatible (region-coded, whatever)?
Thanks for any insights! (Just gotta figure out how to wrangle this thing upstairs...)

Thanks for any insights! (Just gotta figure out how to wrangle this thing upstairs...) | Don't quote me on this but from what I know, you can pretty much run Dance Freaks (Korean version) using the same hardware (Bemani System 573 Digital).
That's based on what I know though......

On the other hand since Dance Freaks is the Korean version I'm sure hypothetically it could work on your machine but only if the kit has been unused prior which there's like a 0% chance of considering there was only one mix and Konami only sold machines and not kits. The hardware on the other hand should be the same.
To my knowledge there is no way to hack specifically an original DMX kit so it will install on any machine. However they seemed to have found a way to do this with DDR mixes which runs off the same hardware so you never know. Hopefully this answered some questions

Thanks for any insights! (Just gotta figure out how to wrangle this thing upstairs...) | Why would you want to downgrade it though? Dancemaniax 2nd Mix append J-Paradise is the best iteration of the series since 1st mix, I feel was very laggy and the grading system was pointless while 2nd mix on its own was good, but lacking in a song list.

I really loved the Korean songs included there. Especially that one korean song that has a boat and a cartoon guy in the BG Video.
