I'm guessing it will be the bastard child of IIDX and Technica, so it'd be a multitouch based 7-key game.

And if they ever released beatmania IV, the beatmania series would just become analogous to the Street Fighter series, since both game series have that "sequels within a sequel" thing (esp. for IIDX (obviously) and SF3's case).  | |

did they ever even release just a beatmania II? I thought it was originally called II Delux or something but they were like nah let's just call it IIDX so it looks cool and people can call it "two-dicks"

1st mix/substream (possibly second?) were smaller, cheaper cabinets (didn't have the floor subwoofer, didn't have some other stuff) so they were BM II cabinets
you could alternatively get a BM IIDX (deluxe) that would have all of these things
eventually they realized this was stupid and got rid of non-DX machines
