Because I don't like formulaic. It doesn't really matter if the song can be danced to. The music needs to be something new and involving everytime. To prove this, listen to Ken Ishii, Dieselboy or London Elektricity, Makoto, Nu:Tone. They all have their own styles of making music, and that is what music artists need to provide. Instead of just copying a working formula and having your music sound like everyone elses (I personally can't differentiate between any of the punk pop bands out there.) but selling. I'd much rather have an artist that tries to represent themselves in a whole new light. Ken Ishii is immaculate with his sounds, Dieselboy hard and fast, London Elektricity invented Liquid Funk, Makoto has his crazy fades, and Nu:Tone works the vocals good.
Sorry for the crazy ranting for the last few posts, it was because I was kind of angry at how little thought Konami put into PnM14 Fever CS. The sound programming was bad, the engineer must have fallen asleep or something. The licensed songs were bad... except for maybe Chibi Maruko's theme, the new songs were bad, especially the ee' mall songs. The new characters are too lazy, they didn't even give the characters new animations or more than 3 frames of animations. I can't believe they could be this crappy when working with a PnM game, because so far, PnM has been a great series with all the reasons to play them, they just ruined it because they needed to make the deadline for a game a year thing. *sigh*

Wow they really muffined that game up.... Oops. I didn't add Pop'n music to the list. Sorry about that.
THis is one reason I like Slake's music. It just sounds so... so... Slakish. All the other J-pop type songs do sound the same to me in the game.
I
I can usually tell Mr. T's music and L.E.D. makes some good stuff.
But here's my question. Why do all the hardest songs have to sound so... mean? I mean, they could easily make an RnB/hiphop song a level 12 if they did it right. DJ and O2 do it. That'd be pretty funny. A song that sounds so cute and happy that it'll give you a cavity from just listening to it... a level 12+. Or just an orchestral song or something. But then again, they do have a couple of those... (Scorpian Fire comes to mind.) So I guess it's ok.
Konami didn't do that bad on IIDX 13th. I like it better than 11th and 12th. All the games have heir pros and cons IMO.

NesS: Previous PnMs used to have great lists of music that works and are new, 14 Fever has relatively few songs that works properly as songs, much less songs for beatgames. The sound engineering is bad, listen to unscrutable battle and the least 100 secs, those are the most glaring examples of botched sound programming.

Gold got some very good feedback at its testing locations and turned the heads of a few arcades/establishments. Meanwhile, the other games have gotten to public attention in the states (or very little if any). IIDX has a head start.

O2jam sucks. That's a fact. I haven't seen a game as old as that one retaining EVERY SINGLE ASPECT OF THE ORIGINAL BETA WITH ZERO IMPROVEMENTS. Aesthetics don't count. They don't even change that. Considering DJmax and Ez2dj actually works towards fixing their game, just look at Djmax P and Djmax P2 for the PSP, they tailored the game for the system perfectly after realizing the original formula doesn't work with handhelds, changing "Thought" essentials of beatgames such as the timing window and fixed combo. PnM and IIDX changes it's system to fit in with the console system or with the general flow of trends. O2JAM CHANGED NOTHING.
